Understanding the Violence at Virginia Tech
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight…The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.” (I Cor 3:19-20)
Pundits and politicians around the nation (and the world) are stumbling all over themselves (and us) to try and make sense of the violence, mayhem, and murder at Virginia Tech, which has also been happening in a variety of forms elsewhere for at least two or three decades.
However, according to the above Scripture, these “analysts” could not possibly make cogent observations or recommendations because they are “fools”. See also:
“The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” (Ps 14:1)
“And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: 'Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, And seeing you will see and not perceive’” (Mt 13:14)
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Prov 1:7)
“A fool has no delight in understanding, But in expressing his own heart.” (Prov 18:2)
As a Christian who “fears God”, let me look at what happened in Blacksburg, Va., and elsewhere, through the lens of “spiritual discernment”:
1. Murderer Cho was obviously VERY DEMONIZED; the “business” of demons is to kill and destroy (Jn 8:44;10:10a); one look at his behavior and his videos confirms this diagnosis;
2. Because the United States (including much of the Virginia Tech Community) has turned away from the Lord and His Ways, violence and mayhem are multiplying at an astonishing rate (Is 59:all);
3. The pundits, etc., have led the way in denying either the existence of the Lord or His relevance in the ongoing affairs of any nation; they have substituted other gods: the idols of relativism and secular humanism; as a result, we are told we are our own little gods and can do whatever seems or feels good in our own eyes(Judges 17:6; 21:25b); therefore, we are awash in deception, ignorance, selfishness, pride, rebellion, political correctness, bombs and bomb threats, innocent bloodshed, angry outbursts, riots, mayhem, multiculturalism, confusion, gross immorality, etc., etc., etc.; our land is “defiled” and it is “vomiting us out”(Lev 18:27-28); this is one of the prime reasons for what has been taking place in Virginia and elsewhere!
4. The mass slaughter of innocent children through ABORTION has caused a spirit of murder and bloodshed to be released throughout the land and the world; murderer Cho’s rampage was the most recent example; please see my most recent column for more about this.
So, what can we take away from this (abbreviated) “spiritually discerned” analysis?
1. Pay no attention to most, (thankfully not all) of the pundits, because they are “fools” spitting out false ideas; they are “false prophets” who spread their thoughts far and wide and deceive millions – see Ezek 13:1-9;
2. We must understand the Scriptures and get the “Mind of Christ”(Mk 12:24; I Cor 2:16);
3. Rather than blame the pagans, as Christians we must REPENT for allowing this to happen! The nation, for which we are responsible (Ezek 22:30; I Tim 2:1), is almost lost to the devourer (I Ptr 5:8). The church, through our pastors, priests, etc., must recognize the times;
4. Most importantly, our pastors and leaders must warn and call us to significant acts of heroism just as Nehemiah did:
“And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, ‘Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.’”(Neh 4:14)
We should be engaged in this great spiritual battle. The pundits are fools; they cannot understand reality. However, if you are a Christian, you can. GET TO WORK!
