Person of the Year 2008!

“Who can find a virtuous woman?

For her worth is far above rubies…

She opens her mouth with wisdom,

And on her tongue is the law of kindness.” (Prov 31:10, 26)

“I have heard of you, that the Spirit of God is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you.” (Dan 5:14)

“Vindicate me, O LORD,

For I have walked in my integrity.

I have also trusted in the LORD” (Ps 26:1a) [emphases mine]

So, scanning the Scriptures, I came upon the above verses which help describe the person who most certainly is the only possible candidate for this honor:

GOV.  SARAH PALIN

While there was another person who captured the public’s attention and will probably change the cultural landscape significantly (and for the worse), as Christians we are compelled to honor people who exhibit the qualities recommended in the verses above:

• virtue
• integrity
• wisdom
• kindness
• “light”
• understanding
• charisma (“the Spirit of God is in you”)

Please allow me to excerpt from an article about Gov. Palin by Marjorie Dannenfelser*:

“It looks like Sarah Palin won't be fading away. Not if Saxby Chambliss has anything to say about it. ‘I can't overstate the impact she had down here,’”

“‘…when she walks in a room, folks just explode.’”

“The crowds that flock to see Palin wherever she goes have found something different in her: authenticity, charisma, and hope. Too bad these qualities are ‘different’ in American politics, but the palpable craving for them explains much of people's continuing interest in her.”

Marjorie nails it!  Because of her Christian character, integrity and “charisma”, Sarah Palin’s 2008 candidacy satisfied a “craving” (we continue to experience) for someone to step out from the morass of political phonies, “corruptees” and perpetrators of “abominations”.

In 2008, we yearned for a candidate who was authentic…charismatic…and gave us HOPE [we will continue to yearn for this in the future]!

In His Mercy, God brought Sarah Palin (and her family) to our attention to satisfy our “craving” for someone in whom we could place our HOPE (see David’s being brought from obscurity in I Sam 16).  The rest is history.  

Therefore, we are delighted to give honor to GOV. SARAH PALIN as:

The 2008 Person of the Year

We must continue not just to yearn, crave and hope, but to PRAY:

1. For Sarah and Todd Palin and their family; for protection, anointing, love, wisdom and knowing and following God’s Will for them;
2. For Barack Obama, that he will be saved and become a “new man” (1 Sam 10:6), one who rules in the fear of God (Is 11:1-5; Prov 20:26; 29:2).

A TSUNAMI of Evil Coming Our Way

And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.” Rev 18:4-5

This week I was attending a prayer meeting at our church and I realized how important it is that we understand what we are facing:  A TSUNAMI – an oncoming tidal wave of evil, not dissimilar in force and effect from what struck Southeast Asia in 2004. 

You probably are asking (quite understandably):

QUESTION: Harry, we know you can be “extreme” – a tidal wave of what? 

ANSWER:  First, let me explain that this is a SPIRITUAL onslaught of evil; anti-Christ spiritual forces unleashed by the dark side are intent on destroying America and its Godly heritage; these demonic forces intend to replace our God-given faith, sovereignty, culture, laws, Constitution and traditions (e.g., Christmas, church-going, the Pledge of Allegiance, “One Nation Under God”, capitalism, the Protestant Ethic, etc.) with “ways” which are evil abominations in God’s eyes (see my last Alert, Dec. 2, 2008 for a list of some of these “abominations” and the scriptures to back up this assertion). 

QUESTION: OK, we understand you believe that demonic forces are intent on changing or altering or destroying our historic culture, “ways”, traditions and beliefs.  What are some visible ways this is happening in our lives? 

 ANSWER:  Let me be specific about some of the ways.  Politically, Economically, Academically and Culturally (Especially by the Media and Entertainment industry) we are being driven and brain-washed to embrace:

·        Socialism

·        Oppressive Government Control of our personal lives

·        Rampant and Ever-Increasing Corruption(see Gov. Blagojevich of Illinois and many others at all levels of government)

·        Pervasive Immorality

·        Abortion

·        Embryo-killing Stem Cell “research”

·        Homosexuality

·        The end of Freedom of Speech (e.g., the “Fairness Doctrine”)

·        Hate Crimes

·        One World Government (see Cal Thomas’ column, also listed below)

·        The Erasing of our Military Strength

·        Global Warming

·        Persecution of true Christians

·        Islam’s increasing influence and acceptance (including terrorist acts)

There are other ways this is happening before our very eyes.  But the list above is a good sample. 

QUESTION: What’s the TSUNAMI all about? 

ANSWER: 

1. The election of Barack Obama and the insertion of thousands of like-minded secular, humanist, far-left “liberal” pagans into our government, legislatures and bureaucracies will drive us toward the “abominations” listed above; in effect, Obama’s election has emboldened these people to impose this agenda; they have been waiting! 
2. We can’t forget God!  As I wrote in my last Alert (see Archives – Dec 2), God is judging us economically!  So, we can expect the devastation of our IDOL (Greed and Money) to bring nation-shaking financial calamities.
3. As God lifts off His Hand of Blessing and allows us to wallow in such gross “Abominations”, we (and especially our children) can expect more and more violence, anger, gross immorality, degradation, physical and mental illnesses, complete removal of standards of right and wrong, bankruptcies and overt hatred of Christianity and Christians.

Brethren, points 1-3 happening together, will constitute a TSUNAMI of epic proportions – not dissimilar to the traumas of the Civil War.

QUESTION: What can the true Church of Jesus Christ do?

 ANSWER:  David Wilkerson (Times Square Church, NYC) partially answered this in his most recent sermon (Oct. 26, 2008) entitled “A Time to Weep and A Time to Fight”:

“[T]here is most certainly a time to weep when calamity strikes.”

“[I]t was the threat to their beloved wives and children that pierced their very souls.”

“I believe that through all the churning and chaotic events going on in the world today, God is bringing down greed, covetousness and pride. I’m convinced he could no longer permit sexual perversions to destroy the soul of an entire generation. And I believe same-sex marriages have become a flash point of God’s

vengeance.”

 “A time comes when all weeping must end. It is then God’s people are to rise above their grieving, above every dire foreboding, and get back their fight.”

“Don’t stay down. Get up and fight for your faith. Exercise your trust in the Lord.” (emphases mine)

We Must:

1.     Wake up and Understand;

2.     Repent!  For “looking away” for all these years and allowing the TSUNAMI to form and start towards us and our nation with such energy and force.

3.     Fight! In Prayer and Action!

Special Analysis of What’s Happening Now

We Should Thank God for Obama’s Election and the Financial Crisis!  These are “Merciful Events”!

“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” (Ps 9:17)

Horrors, Harry!  Have you lost your mind? 

ANSWER:  It would seem so until one considers the nature of God – how He judges nations which forget Him, turning instead to so much bloodshed, wickedness, violence, corruption, idolatry, defilement, and abominations that He will “act in His fury” resulting in devastating judgments (Jer 5:9; 21:10; Ps 119:126).

“But the LORD is the true God;

He is the living God and the everlasting King.

At His wrath the earth will tremble,

And the nations will not be able to endure His indignation.” (Jer 10:10) - emphasis mine

The question is whether each JUDGMENT is “remedial” or “final” (“remedial” judgments are like warning shots, designed to turn us back to the Lord; a “final” judgment is just that – FINAL, with no hope of reprieve, as with the Israelites:

“And the LORD God of their fathers sent warnings to them by His messenger(s)… rising up early and sending them, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place. But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till there was no remedy.” (2 Chron 36:15-16) - emphasis mine

QUESTION:  If Obama’s election and the financial crisis are considered divine judgments, how is that “MERCIFUL” on God’s part?  I thought He is a God of LOVE!   (See Prov 29:2b, 18a, 28:12b).

Nationally, God’s method seems to be to make us so desperate that we will “cry out” for Him, begging for forgiveness and seeking Him so our land (nation?) can be healed. 

Therefore, if God “heals” our land, then what the LORD has allowed to happen has been very MERCIFUL and we must thank Him! 

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chron 7:14) - emphasis mine

QUESTION: What does Obama’s election have to do with this? 

Therefore, God has “given us over” to debased minds to do (and believe) “things which are not fitting”, to “uncleanness in the lusts of our hearts” and to “vile passions… committing what is shameful”, gripped by confusion of heart, vexations and physical and financial problems.

Obama and his ilk have been endorsing and encouraging great national sins; Biblically and historically “the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice or approve such things” (Dt 28:27-29; Rom 1:32, 2:2)

“And He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who sinned and who made Israel sin.” (1 Kings 14:16) - emphasis mine

Brethren, as a nation we have chosen, empowered and emboldened leaders (and their followers) whose polices and agendas are so abominable that the Holy God must judge and cleanse us in order to bring us to our knees crying out for “Help” in desperation (in my opinion and historical precedents, Obama’s policies will do just that.)

“Is it not You, O God, who cast us off? Give us help from trouble,

For the help of man is useless.” (Ps 60:10a, 11) - emphasis mine

QUESTION: What “great national sins” are you talking about? 

Hating God (see Ps 2:1-3; Jn 15:18; Rom 1:30);

Idolatry (see Is 2:8)

Abortion (see Jer 22:3; Is 1:15);

Homosexuality (Including “marriage” and adoption) [see Lev 18:22-23; Rom 1:24-27; Is 57:3-4; Gen 2:24];

Calling Evil Good (see Is 5:20);

Covetousness, Greed (see Is 5:8; Eccles 5:10);

Selfishness (see Is 58:10; Lk 10:33; Is 32:6b);

Concupiscence (see Ezek 6:9; Rom 7:5);

Injustice (see Is 1:17; Ps 58:1-2);

Forcing Israel to “divide” her land (see Joel 3:2);

Excessive Taxation (see Is 58:6; Lk 3:12-13);

Tyranny (Including silencing dissent) [see 1 Kg 12:14; Ex 3:7-9; Is 30:10];

False Prophecy (see Is 30:10; Jer 23:13, 29:9);

Elite, Proud Mentality (see Rev 6:15; Is 2:17-20);

Violence, Murder (see Hos 4:2);

Vanity, Conceit, Riches (see Rom 12:3; Est 1:1-4, 5:11; Ezek 16:23-24; Prov 21:24);

Harvesting Embryonic Stem Cells (see Jer 1:5);

Rebellion (Against God’s Laws, Ways and National Traditions) [see Is 30:9-11];

Corruption: “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.  So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.” (Gen 6:11-12)

All the above (because of ignorance, passivity, or fear) have led the nation to think these national and ecclesiastical sins “aren’t so bad”, and will reap neither national nor personal consequences, either here on earth or eternally (see 1 Kg 18:21; Jer 1:13-15, 23:4).  Of course, the opposite is true.

Today, America worships MONEY and all the “toys”, power, mansions, sex, clothes and fame it can buy. 

Money is today’s idol; it competes with God for our reverence and, therefore, in God’s eyes, must be brought down. 

ANSWER:

1. Spread the word (especially to pastors, priests, and leaders).
2. Repent for any potential complicity on your part
3. Join with others in your church and elsewhere
4. PRAY! For the Obamas, their ilk, and all other pagans to be SAVED; that our new President, his Cabinet and Advisors will have a great Anointing of Wisdom for the well-being of our country.  
5. CRY OUT DESPERATELY for another “Great Awakening” amongst the general population and a “Revival” in God’s Church! 

“As long as the church continues militant, Christ will be conquering; men go on opposing, and Christ goes on conquering.  He conquers His enemies... He conquers His enemies in the world, wicked men, some by bringing them to His foot, others by making them His footstool. Whatever convulsions and revolutions happen in the states and kingdoms of the world, the kingdom of Christ shall be established and enlarged in spite of all opposition.”[From Matthew Henry’s Commentary on Rev 6:2]

“And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to Him, and He went out conquering and to conquer.” (Rev 6:2)
